Look Ma, No Legs!

August 25, 2009 1:59 pm by Cassandra Crawford

My suspension desk is complete, and yes, it is green!

Shane finished it up a while back and I just did the finishing touches on the green stain this last weekend.

This is no regular desk – it is a suspension desk. It is completely suspended by the cables attached to the wall and the desk. No legs makes for more room underneath the desk for storage since it is in a small space. And its strength has been tested – both Shane and I have stood on top of the desk and it didn’t break! Thanks to Jim, David and Shane for the great unique desk. I absolutely love it!

Is Green Good?

Shane and his dad are making me a desk for my elf room (the little loft at the top of our house with a skylight). The room isn’t big enough for Shane to fit in standing up, so it immediately became my room – the elf room. For little people.

So this desk is being made and I want to stain it a green color instead of a traditional wood stain. I think it’ll be unique and pretty, but I get lots of negative reactions towards it when I tell people the idea.

Here’s a sample of the stain on the wood being used for the desk. What do you think???

All Grown Up

After almost a year of actually having a dining room in our house, we finally got a real dinner table and matching chairs to replace the card table and folding chairs we had been using. I think this means we are actually adults now.

I’ve been taking pictures as I go of the flowers I planted back in the fall. I love spring!

Our Townhouse

January 8, 2008 10:00 pm by Cassandra Crawford

We made a big decision the last weekend to buy a townhouse in Peabody, MA. We went back to sign some papers and take pictures of our new home and want to share them with everyone. We bought Unit #8 which is still under construction and should be done by the end of March so we can move into our new home at the beginning of April – just in time for Celtics playoff parties. They let us look at one that was closer to being finished (Unit #5) so we took pictures of that one, too. But ours has a better view and lets more light in. Since it is a new construction we get to pick out all the colors of the hardwood floors, the tile in the bathrooms, the carpet in the bedrooms, and the cabinets in the kitchen. And Shane is excited about all the custom wiring we get to install!
