Delayed Flowers

May 28, 2009 9:03 am by Cassandra Crawford

I found this picture while going through my library and wanted to share even though it’s old.

I came home one day from work and found these tulips at the top of the stairs – so pretty.

All Grown Up

After almost a year of actually having a dining room in our house, we finally got a real dinner table and matching chairs to replace the card table and folding chairs we had been using. I think this means we are actually adults now.

I’ve been taking pictures as I go of the flowers I planted back in the fall. I love spring!

Watch For Me!

March 26, 2009 4:02 pm by Cassandra Crawford

I’m going to be on national TV tonight and Saturday working the scoreboard for the NCAA Tournament East Region games at the garden. Tonight games are at 7:27 PM and 9:57 PM Eastern. The games will be on CBS and I’ll be sitting courtside, just to the right of center court.

That is all. I hope I don’t screw things up.

Stopped Escalator = Stairs?

March 18, 2009 9:57 am by Cassandra Crawford

Maybe I missed something, but isn’t an escalator that is not moving the equivalent to stairs?

On the way to work this morning, I was entering North Station. To get to where the trains arrive, you must go down either an escalator or walk down some stairs. The stairs are situated right next to the “down” escalator. However, this morning (for whatever reason) the escalator was not moving but was not blocked off. There was a herd people trying to get to where the trains come and go this morning since a commuter rail train had just arrived at North Station and dumped off a large number of likely stupid people. It seemed obvious to most that using both the stairs and the non-moving escalator would be a good idea, but one particular woman got very perplexed. As she approached the escalator (which I assume she used on a regular basis), she realized it was not moving. “Ugh”, she said with disgust, “I have to use the stairs”. She proceeded to suddenly change direction and walk perpendicular to the herd, cut off several other people (including myself), and walk down the more crowded stairway which probably took her twice as long.

I can’t figure out why this woman would have avoided the less crowded escalator and disgustedly used the stairs other than she is an idiot. In the words of Mitch Hedberg: “An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You would never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience.”

Black and Cream Flowers

I had fun with my new flowery fabric last week. With Shane gone last weekend, I made a fancy little camera case complete with a pocket, lining, and fleece padding. I am proud of my creation. For the next time, I altered the pattern to fit my camera size better (smaller).

I also made another martingale style collar for Raynah, Ajax’s new girlfriend. I’m starting to get good at this…

Doing Nothing

February 22, 2009 10:34 am by Cassandra Crawford

A smart man once said, “There’s never enough time to do all the nothing you want.” Well, maybe it was that 5 year old kid from Calvin and Hobbes, but that doesn’t make it less true.

Shane and I got back from vacation this week and it was awesome. Our goal was to do absolutely nothing and apart from eating and sleeping, that is pretty much what we did. I felt so refreshed going back to work, I haven’t been tired when I wake up in the morning, and I’ve just had a lot more energy since the vacation was over. I love vacations that give you energy rather than take it. Not to mention the weather was awesome and the beach was great.

Here’s some pictures of the beach and where we stayed: http://picasaweb.google.com/speedylee/DominicanRepublicFeb200902?feat=directlink

Here’s some black and white artsy pics I took as well: http://picasaweb.google.com/speedylee/DominicanRepublicFeb2009BW?feat=directlink

Stripes are not sissy

Shane insists that the new collar I made for Ajax is “sissy” because of the stripes on it. I disagree. You be the judge.

Ajax’s new look

January 24, 2009 7:22 pm by Cassandra Crawford

Ajax got a new collar today. It’s solid blue with light blue stitching and was my test attempt at a martingale collar. There are more to come in the future. This collar is 1 inch wide, but I ordered some more hardware today for 1.5″ and 2″ wide collars.
